LAMINARIE

On the occasion of VIE, Laminarie repeats the performance Invettiva inopportuna, conceived, directed and played by Febo Del Zozzo, of which ERT is coproducer.
On stage a man alone, in the centre of a pulleys and ropes’ complex structure between which he painstakingly tries to extricate himself. The man, standing, is holding a worn paper in his hand, and with an uncertain and nervous gesture, he opens and close it several times, trying to read what is written, unsuccessfully. His face is covered, inscrutable to the eye. While the lights gradually clarify the complexity of the tangle – two kilometres of ropes that take the form of a tangle of obstacles, an impervious landscape that hinders all movement – many times the man needlessly tries to di break free. He fights against the world that hosts him, that he himself built with the tools of the theatre. His gestures produce clear sounds, sometimes deafening, sometimes assonant. They are precise sounds but not always governable. The theatrical installation appears as a single large sound body, in which the strings, the actor’s body and the space vibrate in unison. The man, moving from one point to another on the scene, pulls, takes off, and tugs the ropes until the grandiose construction collapses. The show is based on the desire to give back to the public a thought on the function of art that doesn’t resign itself to being a consoling tool but insists on being a complex, disjointed, unproductive gift.
